Sisters and Daughters of Sheba was founded by psychologist Debra Ann Brodie, PhD. The first Sisters of Sheba Developement Network (SOSDN, 1996-97), was derived from Dr. Brodie's eariler copyrighted relationship seminars. The SOSDN was a monthly educational/support program for more than 100 women. It educated women about the psychology of romance and gender power dynamics. It also educated women about how their current sexual practices may put them at risk for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections(STI's). The promising outcome of this program was presented at the 12th World AIDS Conference in Geneva Switzerland (July 1998).
In 1997-98, Dr. Brodie revised the structure and content of the program from monthly sessions to a five-week class entitled "The Sheba Attitude® Training Program (SATP)".
This format was refined further in the Spring and Summer of 1998 to create the current format: Sisters of Sheba 101 and 102 courses. These courses are for adult women ages 21 and older. The Daughters of Sheba 101 class, which debuted in the Fall of 1998, is for young ladies 13-20 years. Together these classes comprised the didactic component of Sisters and Daughters of Sheba®.
